Presentaties en discussies over technologie en cultuur
Dit jaar bekijk je bij Border Sessions, het jaarlijkse Haagse technologie en cultuur festival, maar liefst negen presentaties en discussies van toonaangevende denkers. Zo hoor je in Women, Whistleblowing, Wikileaks van o.a. Britse journalist en voormalig Wikileaks redacteur Sarah Harrison over de rol van vrouwen bij Wikileaks, vertelt ontwerper Andrew Bullen over het inclusieve project van de European Street Design Challenge en licht New Media professor Vladan Joler toe hoe je met kaarten de onzichtbare lagen van de technologische krachten binnen onze maatschappij ontdekt en krijg je de kans om samen met Jeroen Boon van Kiemkracht je eigen Coöperatieve Community op te zetten.

Border Sessions is a yearly tech culture festival on a mission to kick-start and fuel challenging ideas, experiments, and multidisciplinary projects.

Central to this year’s Border Sessions Festival are various labs to provoke critical thinking, problem solving and explore innovative management skills. The labs focus on a specific topic or theme and a have clear mission and goal.

CONFERENCE
The conference includes different international speakers, book presentations, workshops, a hackathon and the Border Labs Award. There are five tracks central to the conference and festival: Humanity, Society, Cities, Nature and And Beyond. Keep an eye on our website for conference updates.

HACK THE PLANET
host the Hack the Planet Hackathon. During the “Hack the Planet” Hackathon creative minds will gather to collaborate with the organizations that aim to improve the world. Work in small teams to tackle some of the most pressing challenges they face and work on the problem that you are most eager to solve. The goal is to come to a solution that will actually be implemented right after the hackathon!

Op dinsdag 3 oktober vindt de volgende editie van de Social Business Generator plaats. De kandidaten zijn bekend en de keynote spreker kan niet wachten haar ervaringen met jullie te delen!

Maar liefst vier (!) ondernemers zullen hun cases pitchen tijdens de Social Business Generator

#1 Onzichtbaar Den Haag
Onzichtbaar Den Haag professionaliseert de kennis, kunde en ervaring van (toekomstig) professionals die werken met en voor ‘de kwetsbare burger’. Dit doen zij door het inzetten van die kwetsbare burger en hun ambassadeurs, met hun kennis, kunde en ervaring. Ze zijn op de goede weg, maar nog niet waar ze willen zijn. Ze zijn opzoek naar expertise en steun om de volgende stap te zetten.

#2 De Spullenier
Een fysieke winkel in de wijk waar mensen spullen kunnen lenen, workshops kunnen geven en waar er kan worden geklust. De Spullenier zoekt partijen via wie zij dit concept kunnen verspreiden in de regio Haaglanden.

#3 Namu
Namu wilt samen met allochtone vrouwen vers bereide en zelfgemaakt eten aanbieden aan locale ondernemingen. Namu wil deze twee groepen bij elkaar te brengen en is op zoek naar sparringspartners.

#4 FlexStagiair
FlexStagiair maakt het voor ondernemers en start-ups makkelijker een stagiair aan te nemen door het bundeling van krachten. Maar hoe bereik je de juiste doelgroep?

KEYNOTE // LENA The Fashion Library
Tijdens ons Social Business Generator // Pitchevent van 3 oktober aanstaande delen de ondernemers van LENA the fashion library hun bijzondere en leuke verhaal. Van vintage boutique naar duurzaam #slowfashion concept naar #Kickstarter campagne, #SwappPoints, groei, impact en nog veel meer!

META Lab SmartLab Den Haag Teh Hague Tech incubator Haagse Makers Stadsmakers Smart City The Hague Pakhuis de Regah Pakhuis de Zwijger in Den Haag Op 26 september, om 13:30, lanceren we META_lab tijdens het Impact Startup Fest op de Caballero Fabriek. We presenteren dan ons eerste programma ‘food & the city’ en geven een kleine workshop.

Met het programma ‘food & the city’. In dit programma staat het samen werken aan een groene en zelfvoorzienende stad op voedselgebied centraal. Waar liggen de uitdagingen? Welke technologie is beschikbaar? Welke toepassingen kunnen we ontwikkelen?

Over META lab
META_lab staat voor Making Emerging Technology Accessible. We creëren een omgeving en programmering zodat mensen bij elkaar komen die meer willen weten, willen samenwerken en elkaar willen opleiden op het gebied van nieuwe technologieën (zoals bijvoorbeeld Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence nieuwe vormen van Connectivity).

In het META_lab The Hague experimenteren we met bewoners, bedrijven, onderwijs en overheid aan oplossingen voor een slimmere en interessante stad. We organiseren bijeenkomsten en werken aan projecten op het gebied van Smart City, nieuwe technologie, Internet of Things en Connectivity.

Ieder kwartaal staat een thema centraal, waarbinnen we onze bijeenkomsten en projecten uitvoeren.

Met het META_lab richten we ons op drie onderdelen:

Het opzetten van een fysieke locatie waar mensen op een open en ongedwongen manier kennis kunnen maken met (nieuwe) technologie en hiermee kunnen experimenteren. De META_wall staat hierbij centraal: een muur waar de technologie is gepresenteerd.
Het aanbieden van een interessante programmering voor een breder publiek. Door een wekelijkse bijeenkomst te organiseren met een wisselende invulling komen verschillende mensen bij elkaar en wordt de community versterkt. Voorbeelden van onderdelen van deze programmering zijn bijvoorbeeld een filmavond, een workshop onder leiding van een expert of een paneldiscussie.
Het versterken van de lokale tech-makers-community. Via het online community platform brengen we de geïnteresseerde makers bij elkaar en versterken we de ontwikkelingen.

In samenwerking met partners wordt het programma opgezet en vormgegeven. Ieder kwartaal staat 1 thema centraal.
Op 26 september starten we met het eerste thema: Food & The City
